Product Description

NEWORLD Cooper split bearing units are the ideal solution to reduce machinery maintenance and repair downtime. The advantages of the Cooper split bearing solution are especially valuable in inaccessible or trapped locations, for example, between head pulley and gearbox or motor, where the need to dismount associated equipment is eliminated.

Split bearing units can be disassembled into smaller components, easing the tasks of lifting and handling and making mounting or replacement simple even in the most cramped and inaccessible conditions. Clearances are pre-set, so there is no requirement for any on-site adjustments or specialized fitting tools.

Bearing series

The standard assortment is available for bore sizes from 30 mm to 1 500 mm (1 1/4˝to 59˝).

A comprehensive array of customization options to the standard design is also available. These include special internal clearances, lip configurations etc.

Housing types

We are the only manufacturer of split bearings to have our own integrated foundry, which allows us to provide the highest quality bearings and housings.

Housings are manufactured and machined in a variety of configurations and in a variety of materials, for example; grey cast iron grade 250, nodular iron, steel, aluminium and stainless steel.

Expansion (EX)

The inner ring is clamped to the shaft, and moves axially with it when expansion or contraction occurs. The Cooper expansion bearings offer

virtually no resistance to axial movement as the rollers spiral through the outer ring raceway.

Fixed (GR)

Provides axial location to the rotating elements of machinery. Can accommodate axial and radial loads.

Sealing types

Superior performance and extended bearing service life by preventing contaminants from entering the bearing.

Due to the external alignment via the seal-carrying cartridge, seals on Cooper bearings work perpendicular to the shaft, providing optimum protection from potential damage from abrasive materials such as cement or sugar.

NEWORLD offers a wide assortment of sealing solutions to suit different requirements and operating environments.

Bearing designs

Cooper offers four standard bearings series to accommodate a variety of shaft sizes:

100 Series

For certain bore sizes in the range 75mm to 150mm Cooper also offer the 100 Series. Lighter duty than the 01 series, it is more compact and capable of higher operating speeds.

01/01E Series

The most commonly used, 01 / 01E series are intended for medium duty applications with a wide range of speeds. 01E series are available in 45mm to 105mm size range, and 160mm to 300mm size range, and offer enhanced load carrying capabilities, and can be considered for applications where 02 series were previously considered.

02/02E Series

The 02 Series offers a more rugged bearing solution for demanding applications where the 01 Series may not be suitable. The 02 Series also operates over a wide range of speeds. For a given shaft size, the 02 Series offers more radial and axial capacity than the 01 Series.02E series are available in 160mm to 300mm size range, and with enhanced load carrying capabilities, they can be considered for applications where 03 series were previously considered.

03 Series

Designed for extreme loading conditions the 03 Series tops the capacity of the 02 Series and offers the highest load ratings of all standard series.

for continuous casting plant

Split bearing units for continuous casting plant

NEWORLD has developed ready-to-mount split bearing units specifically designed for use on the drive rollers of the cooling zone of continuous casting plant.

The special housings are of cast steel and are water cooled. The housing top with its integral cooling chamber has a low sectional height because the standard design incorporates only one outer ring half which is positioned in the base of the housing.

The spherical roller bearing of the unit normally consists of two inner ring halves with lubrication groove and holes, four clamping ring and cage halves, one outer ring half and two lamellar sealing rings with one split. The inner ring division is at an angle to the bearing axis.

Water-cooled bearing units for continuous casting machines are generally customized to individual applications. Bearings are of the 071 or 081 Series, which are designed specifically for this type of application. The general features of a typical design are illustrated above.

Bearings of the type illustrated may also be applied to other slow moving applications (generally under 15rpm) where a high capacity bearing is required in a compact envelope.

If you wish to specify NEWORLD Cooper water-cooled bearing units, or bearings of the 071 or 081 Series, please contact our technical department with details of the application.

Continuous Casters

NEWORLD Cooper split to the shaft water-cooled continuous caster bearings are integral to steel making installations around the world. We create bearings to specific design requirements, always working closely with our steel manufacturing clients as well as OEMs to ensure every detail of the brief is met.

Hard work pays

The continuous caster environment is one of the most extreme imaginable, yet Cooper continuous caster bearings can be relied upon to last. On the upper segments they have returned over two million tons cast. On the lower segments – with a higher load rating – the average is one million tons.

NEWORLD Cooper continuous caster bearings make the difference in three key ways:

1.Low profile housing

If your application requires close clearance, Cooper continuous caster water-cooled units feature a low profile housing for maximum cooling.

2.Free axial movement

When roll lengths change due to variations in temperature, the rollers in the Cooper bearing move freely across the bore of the outer race in an almost frictionless movement.

3.High level of engineering

Cooper rollers are carefully profiled to reduce stress concentration, whilst the housing is specially engineered to improve the load distribution on the rollers and maximize bearing life.

4.Superior sealing

Laminar or Polymer seals mounted as single or double sets resist damage by scale particles and along with effective lubrication stop water getting into the housings and prolong the life of the bearing.

for steel plant

Cooper and steel – a powerful combination

NEWORLD and the steel industry have an excellent and long-established working relationship. Wherever the steel industry works hard, you'll find NEWORLD Cooper roller bearings.

Cooper split-to-the-shaft bearings are found wherever steel businesses need reliability, accessibility and flexibility:

   ● In the stacker reclaimers, bucket elevators, crushers and conveyors used to handle raw materials

   ●  In the smelting process in coke oven and blast furnace conveyors and fans

   ●  In steel-making, especially on continuous slab casters - NEWORLD water-cooled bearings thrive on

extremes of temperature. Typically they will deliver 2m tons on the upper segments and 1m tons on

      the lower segment

   ●  In the steel-forming process, NEWORLD bearings keep hot steel moving in cooling banks undaunted

by extreme wet and dirty conditions.

Transfer tables move ton after ton of heavy steel slabs with ease on NEWORLD Cooper bearings. Link

spindles and Pilger mills also benefit from NEWORLD Cooper reliability

Industry-wide support

NEWORLD Cooper split bearings are key to all kinds of motors used in the steel-making process and are especially useful in trapped locations where the split nature of the bearings greatly reduces maintenance costs. They are also used reliably and effectively in fans and blowers, and conveyors.

Screening, sizing, washing

Our bearings are designed to withstand the most demanding environments, including relentless challenges created by vibrating screens, trommels and ore washers

Crushing and milling

Piece-size reduction aiming for uniform particles causes increased wear and tear, which is why more and more mine engineers are relying on Cooper bearings in ball mills and crushers

Ventilation and air movement

Fans and ventilators are required to operate over long periods at high speed to prevent build-up of gases and keep temperature levels regular. NEWORLD Cooper bearings enable them to perform this crucial task with maximum reliability

The right bearing for the job…

NEWORLD offers a range of bearings to suit the specific demands of your mining application.

Cooper mountings are available in a wide variety of materials including iron, nodular iron or steel. There is a full range of SN-, SAF-and SD-compatible pedestals.

APPLICATION

Applications

Cooper split roller bearings are used across a variety of industries and applications. Key advantages are ease of mounting, inspection and replacement, as well as the superior effectiveness of the sealing system in the most adverse environments.

Belt conveyor

In trapped locations such as this, split bearings provide significant savings in maintenance and downtime, due to the elimination of the need to dismount and refit important associated components.
